The
festival's proceeds benefit school students throughout the year
by providing field trip scholarships and equipment grants for the
"Salmon in the Classroom" program, grants to high school
clubs working on river conservation and education projects, environmental
education services at Effie Yeaw Nature Center in Carmichael, and
many community organizations providing volunteer services at the
festival. In addition, festival proceeds will benefit the over 360,000
annual visitors to the Nimbus Hatchery through a new interpretive
trail project. The festival's community grants program will
also fund local projects furthering the conservation and protection
of salmon and the American River.
